CBS Orders SUPERGIRL TV Show to Series

Superheroes are not only dominating the silver screens but now the small screens as well. Originally planned as a pilot, Supergirl has now been ordered to a full series. According to TV Line, after getting a look at the pilot, CBS picked up the DC Comics adaptation to series, executive produced by Greg Berlanti, who’s also behind the other shows, CW’s Arrow and The flash. Is this a wise move by CBS? If David E. Kelley’s disastrous Wonder Woman pilot is any indication, probably not. But like they say, timing is everything, so maybe now is the right time. Regardless, it’s nice to finally see a show led by a female superhero again.

The series stars Melissa Benoist (Glee) as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, and picks up with the character at the age of 24. She’s been hiding her powers since first arriving on Earth from Krypton years ago, but finally decides to embrace her abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

CBS will unveil their full schedule next week, that’s when we’ll find out exactly when Supergirl’s debut will be.
