During this year's New York Comic Con, I was front and center with famed artist and award-winning toy designer Todd McFarlane. McFarlane Toys revealed a revolutionary evolution in brick building toys based on television’s most watched drama, AMC’s The Walking Dead. These isn’t your parent’s building blocks, or any other building blocks for that matter. The block sets are so detailed that most spectators thought it was a diorama until they read the packaging. Known as a game-changer for its realistic action figures, including those based on The Walking Dead, McFarlane Toys is adding a new licensed category to the company's portfolio.
McFarlane wants to make the building block sets for the older crowd. He said the other companies target more of a younger crowd and he wants to be able to target an older group. The details were truly quite impressive in the sets on display, including the Prison Tower and Gate. This is one of the reasons why McFarlane Toys has been around for 20 years with their incredible products. McFarlane wants to have the building sets offered along with smaller sets, which will include parts that can expand the existing set you might already own.
There are big plans to offer all the main characters figures along with many Walkers. Just in case you're wondering, yes it has Daryl with Chopper set. The packaging has a retro feel to it with the colors and the layout, which I find really cool.
