Apple Announces New Ultra Thin MacBook

Apple has recently announced a thinner and lighter MacBook along with a refresh model of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display and MacBook Air. All models will feature “All-Day” battery life and redesigned trackpad with “Force Click” that allows users to press harder to pull up information on the screen.

The new MacBook will ship on April 10 and starts at $1,299 with a 1.1GHz Core M processor, 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM. There's also a slightly more powerful model for $1,599 with a 1.2GHz processor and 512GB SSD. It will be available in silver, space grey and gold finished. The unit has an incredibly limited physical I/O therefore a purchase of the new USB-C type adapter is required. The USB-C type input takes the place of USB, power, HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort.

The 13-inch Macbook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage is available starting March 9 for $1,299, rising to $1,799 for the 2.9GHz version with 512GB of flash storage. Under the hood the unit will have Intel's latest Broadwell Core i5 and i7 processors and powerful graphics.

The 13-inch MacBook Air will cost you $999 rising to $1,199.00 for the higher end model. Meanwhile the 11-inch MacBook Air starts at $899 rising to $1,099. Steep price for a refresh with the same outdated display as it has for years although it will come with have the latest 5th generation processors like the Macbook Pro along with Thunderbolt 2 and updated flash storage for faster data transfer. The refresh Macbook Air is available March 9 as well.
